frontend-design
Anthropic's official design-guidance skill, no scripts, Apache-2.0 LICENSE.txt in folder, what it changes and who it's for.
Verified · Repo on GitHub
What it does
Pure design guidance for building or reshaping UI: ground the design in the subject, pick deliberate typography/palette/layout, avoid templated defaults, make the hero the most characteristic thing. It changes how the agent designs — it does not generate code by itself.
Who made it / license / last checked
Anthropic (anthropics/skills) · License: Apache-2.0 — LICENSE.txt sits inside the skill folder · Repo last commit checked: 2026-10-28
Install
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skillsFrom anthropics/skills README (Claude Code plugin route). The generic npx skills add anthropics/skills@frontend-design pattern is used by the Skills CLI ecosystem, but we verified the plugin command in the README, so we list that as primary.
What files / scripts it runs
SKILL.md (9,390 bytes, unchanged since 19 Oct) + LICENSE.txt. No scripts, no references folder, nothing executed. Lowest-risk shape a skill can have.
Pros
- No code execution at all — just instructions
- Official Anthropic skill, opinionated and specific rather than generic 'make it pretty'
- Apache-2.0 in-folder license is clear
Cons
- Outcomes still depend on the model following it; no tests or evals in the folder
- Strong opinions may fight your existing design system — read it before using on a branded product
Alternatives
vercel-labs/agent-skills web-design-guidelines (not in this batch); doing nothing and art-directing in your prompt.
Notes
Skills.sh listed it at 1.0M installs on 19 Oct 2026 and 1.1M (#15) on 30 Oct 2026. Popularity here at least matches a genuinely useful, execution-free prompt — but we are rating the file we read, not the count.
