media-use
One command for music, voice, images and grades, with 45 scripts, account-linked telemetry and an instruction never to tell you prices. Set a credit limit.
Verified · Repo on GitHub
What it does
Gets or makes every kind of media a HyperFrames video needs, through one command (npx hyperframes media-use resolve --type … --intent …): music, sound effects, images, icons, logos, voiceover, avatar and generated video, transcripts, cutouts, colour grades and looks. Each file lands in your project's assets/ with a ledger record, so renders never fetch. Sources are HeyGen's catalog and paid generation after you sign in, free sources such as Openverse, bundled sound effects, or local tools (Kokoro, Parakeet or whisper, FLUX, MusicGen) when you ask for them.
Who made it / license / last checked
HeyGen (heygen-com/hyperframes) · License: Apache-2.0 (repo LICENSE); the 19 bundled sound effects are from Pixabay under the Pixabay Content License (its CREDITS.md) · Repo last commit checked: 2026-11-04 (the skill folder last changed on 2026-11-04)
Install
npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes --skill media-useThe --skill <name> form is in the repo README. It is part of the core set that npx hyperframes skills update installs. HeyGen generation also needs the heygen CLI (v0.3.0 or later) and npx hyperframes auth login. We did not run any of it.
What files / scripts it runs
SKILL.md (5,050 bytes), 23 reference files, 19 MP3 sound effects and a LUT index, plus 45 Node and Python scripts (and 25 test files): HeyGen voice and TTS clients, Gemini TTS auth, transcription, transcript cuts, audio ducking, dithering, a credit-limit check and a telemetry module. The telemetry module posts usage events to PostHog (us.i.posthog.com); once you sign in to HeyGen it links them to your account email and username. It honours HYPERFRAMES_NO_TELEMETRY=1, DO_NOT_TRACK=1 and npx hyperframes telemetry disable, and it prints a notice the first time.
Pros
- One verb for all media, with each file stored locally and recorded, so renders are reproducible
- A credit limit you set in
.hyperframes/credit-limit.jsonmakes every paid call refuse what would go past it - Logos are taken from real sources and never redrawn by the model
- The telemetry code says it never sends intent text, file names or paths, and it has three opt-outs
Cons
- It tells the agent to plan for the best result with no cheaper or free swaps, to use local tools only when you ask, and never to tell you prices, estimates or usage: set a credit limit before you use it
- Usage telemetry is on by default and linked to your HeyGen account once you sign in
- 45 scripts that call HeyGen, Google and other services: far more code than a typical skill, and the folder changes almost daily
- Every command is
npx hyperframes …with no pinned version
Alternatives
The local-only route the skill documents (--local-only, Kokoro TTS, Parakeet or whisper transcription); your own stock library dropped into assets/.
Notes
Skills.sh listed media-use at 1.3M installs on 4 Nov 2026. The folder had at least 100 commits by 4 Nov, six of them on 3 and 4 Nov (credit-limit and billing changes, a rule that voiceover is free only on the Free plan, a signed-in session winning over an API key, style templates, and a docs change that stops the skills from telling the agent to install or update skills), so re-read it before you rely on a detail here.
